|
|
(Since this newsgroup has 'cellular' in it, this question might be
slightly off topic!?)
Somewhere, I thought I read or heard about a keyboard/mouse setup
that uses Bluetooth technology. Not infra-red / IR, but yes, Bluetooth.
I browsed and asked in a Circuit City store last week, but the only wireless
keyboard/mouse technology that they carry is IR. But, the box clearly
states
the the range of these IR keyboards/mice is 6 feet.
The application that I envision would indeed require a range greater than
6 feet. The two scenarios I envision are as follows:
(1) A home entertainment center, with a large screen monitor/TV would
have a builtin 'desktop' PC box inside it, using the TV/monitor
as
its video display device. But, the wireless keyboard/mouse
driving the computer
might be 10 to 20 feet away (on a coffee table or whatever)
(2) In a conference room with bult-in folding seating, the
speaker/presenter,
instead of using a laptop, would use a wireless keyboard/mouse
to remotely drive a builtin desktop PC.
The question is: Do such wireless Bluetooth-compatible keyboards/mice
exist?
If so, from what vendor?
TIA...
Dave

Microsoft has a bluetooth mouse and keyboard (available as a combo
with transceiver) but reviews haven't been all that positive. Logitech
and Apple (rumoured) are coming out with their own versions soon.

I'm typing this on the Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard now. It's
a great piece of hardware and I've been very happy with it.
I use it with Linux, so the common complaints that have
circulated about the low-quality Windows drivers have not
affected me.
The keyboard was somewhat overpriced when it was first
announced late last year, but retail prices have since
dropped into the region of reasonability.

In addition to the MS offering, Belkin just announced a BT mouse - due to go
on sale on Oct 1. Flexis have a BT flexible KB on their site (for quite some
time now), but no indication if it's available.
