Does Class 1 dongle increase range to my class2 headset?

One can buy a class 1 bluetooth dongle that claims to have
100M range. But if I use it to talk to the same old
class2 bluetooth headset, will it gain any range.
Doesn't matter how far it can send if it can't receive
equivalently better???

No. The range is limited by the lower power device. I get no
further range to my class 2 GSM phone from a class 1 PC device
than I do from a class 2.

I'm not sure which aspect (transmitter power or receiver
sensitivity) is typically more important in limiting range.
But the devices interact to ensure packets are delivered and
understood. Each needs to both transmit and receive.
