Is there anyone who can explain some columns on a report we get from
Cingular? Specifically,
Serving SID, LAC, Home SID and CELL. I know that LAC stands for
Location Area Code and may stand for a tower or group of towers in a
specific area. Is there a list of LAC, CELLID's and addresses that is
available.

The reason I'm asking is we're trying to find our 15 year old daughter
who is a runaway. We live in Florida and the laws are so strange here.
In Florida a minor child running away from home is not against the law
and so if your child runs away, the police will do very little to help
you find them. Since it isn't a crime you can't get information put on
local news media unless you can afford to buy ad space. Since it isn't
a crime you can't get a search warrant and without that you can't get
detailed records from the phone companies even though the phone is in
our name and we pay the bill.

She's been missing 3 weeks now and we are frantic. Please help.

Sincerely,

Andrew Camfield

The SID is the System ID, it indicates what market the call is made from.
There are a few FCC web sites that could help, or you could just call
Cingular's customer service, they should be able to tell you where the call
was made. The CELL is is the actual cell tower, so they can home in that
far.

I wish you luck.

jeez. I can see why you would be frantic. You could also try a reverse
look up on the numbers she is calling, if they are any landline numbers.
Check out www.infospace.com.

did she run away because of a boyfriend?
