Moto HS810 and USB Bluetooth Adapter

I have a Moto HS810 bluetooth headset which works fine with my cellphone. I
am trying to use it with VoIP (Skype) on my PC but have been unable to get
it to pair it with any of the various USB Bluetooth PC adapters that I have
tried. One Moto rep said that it will not work because it is an older model
while a second rep said that it will work with a Moto USB Bluetooth adapter.
Before I buy a Moto adapter can someone clarify this for me? In particular,
which BT profiles are needed to enable connection to the PC via a USB BT
adapter? My PC is Win2k based.

Hi,

First of all I am using Win2k, not XP!

The step that fails is the pairing. Sometimes the USB adapter finds the
HS810 sometimes it doesn't. When it does, it fails after I enter the
passkey.

have already loaded some other driver.

I use a DLink DBT-120 USB Bluetooth adapter and a Motorola HS820 headset
with Skype.

The DLink came with a Widcom driver. The stock WinXP driver won't work,
and it will be installed, because ... it will. Follow the instructions
that come with the Bluetooth adapter very carefully to make sure you
install the drivers that will work.

There are a few workarounds. One is to disable the WinXP driver before
installing your driver. The other is to delete the MS devices after
installing your device.

That should be simpler. I think the pernicious WinXP driver is replaced by
the Win2000 driver if you follow advice from BVRP (makers of Motorola Phone
Tools). I would still use the BT vendor driver, and ensure that the
Windows drivers are not installed.

Is your phone on? If it is paired to the headset, you will not be able to
pair to the PC. I pair the phone to the PC for sync, and I sometimes find
myself in a mode where I can't pair, and then I realize I am pairing the
wrong devices. I notice the BT symbol on my phone. Either the phone has
paired with the HS820 or the PC, but either way, that pairing prevents the
820-PC pairing. There is something in the HS820 manual about the headset
always auto-pairing with the last device that it had paired, but I just
turn off BT in the phone.

And the passkey is always "0000", right?
