I live in the UK, but I'm going to the USA later this week. I've just bought
two Cingular (AT&T) SIM cards, and registered them online.
Putting them in my (unlocked, quad-band) V3 phones either gives No Network,
or Emergency Calls Only. I've played with the band settings, anything else?

To operate those SIMs outside the US, you'll need to have
activated international roaming: http://tinyurl.com/2q9puv

Thanks, I later thought that might be the problem.
Now I'm in a Catch 22 situation: I can't contact Cingular Support to get
roaming turned on, because I need to get my PIN from a working phone! |

When you say "registered" them ... what type of account are they
associated with? Prepaid? (GoPhone). If yes, these will not work outside
of the US. If postpaid, you must activate international roaming first. |

Thanks for the replies.
The odd thing is that this time last year I did exactly the same thing, and
they worked fine in the UK. Cingular say not possible, but I've still got
the SIMs to prove it!
