I'm trying to get Nokia PC Suite working with a Nokia 6120 (connected via
USB cable) on a notebook running Windows Vista.

The software says it can't find the handset ("No phones connected"), but I
can "Connect to the Internet" using "One Touch Access".

Funnily enough, it says "No phones connected" and "Connection established
using Nokia GSM Phone USB Modem #2".

Any ideas? I want to sync my phone and tranfer some music across, but I
can only "connect to the Internet".

If no ideas on what's causing my problem, are there any freeware or
inexpensive commerical equivalents to Nokia PC Suite?

I had to go to the Nokia website and download the lastest version to get PC
Suite working with Vista and my N76

I gave up on using Nokia's PC suite years ago. Instead I found it far
easier to simply remove the memory card, slot it into an adaptoer then
into the card reader, then transfer the data across that way.

The only reliable phone software that I've used is Samsung's Phone Studio
software. While it's limited in what it can do, for file transfers, phone
book back up (and importing from Outlook) it works great. The Samsung
itself ain't too bad, either.

What about that stuff that was being peddled from Russia - forget the
name as I switched to a Palm Treo 650 a few years ago?

I found that to be pretty good. They used to spam this ng with their
ads, IIRC?

Oxygen? Or some name like that.

I had a quick look at it when I had a Nokia. Wasn't that impressed with
it. Besides, my Nokia at the time, a 2280 CDMA had problems connecting to
either the Nokia software or it. Same for my wife's 6233 at the time.
