Well I am confused but hey that's nothing new. Why does the ADSL modem have
a fixed, private IP address? Shouldn't the ADSL modem be getting an IP
address from your ISP provider? Also isn't the management interface for the
router (and the "private" side of the router) set up to 192.168.0.1? How do
you handle router configuration? To configure my router I aim Internet
Explorer at 192.168.1.1 and a cool GUI HTML interface comes up that allows
me to set certain parameters on the router.

How do you connect with your DSL provider? Do you use PPoE? Is your router
handling the login to the DSL provider?

On the XP host, are you using ICS? I would think that you need to use ICS to
allow the IPAQ to share the internet connection with the XP host. Are you
setting up DNS correctly on the XP host so that the IPAQ is getting the
correct information?

Any additional information you can provide may help

Cheers
TC

Hi,

Im having problems connecting my iPAQ 3970 to my desktop running WinXp and a
gigabyte bluetooth adapter. My iPAQ has PPC2003 so it has the same bluetooth
stack as a 5400 series iPAQ.

Ive followed the guide http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=448
to no avail.

The problem is that I have an ADSL modem and Netgear MR814v2 router and need
help with the ip settings.

Firstly my ADSL modem has a fixed 192.168.0.1 ip address which cant be
changed.
My router has an ipo address of 192.168.0.2 ip
The desktop has an ip of 192.168.0.3
All are on the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
The default gateway is 192.168.0.2
The DNS and Alt DNS are my ISP addresses.

The router is not running in DHCP mode as it is also a wireless router. Ive
done this for security purposes and assigned ip's. The iPAQ has been
assigned an ip of 192.168.0.5.

Everything works in terms of bluetooth and even the network connection
connects but I can browse with internet explorer.

Could someone please tell me what I should set as the ip, sub net, gateway
and dns for the iPAQ and the desktop connection for the bluetooth network
adapter to make this work.

Thanks in advance.
