Is the iPhone ring tone used in the commercials on the phone? Doesn't sound
like one of the ones on the phone.

Thats one of the reasons I dont have an iPhone. You cant make and add
your own ringtones without Apple trying to charge you.

On My Sony I have Flintphone ringtone. It's (I hope) attached here.

No attachment Ron. Not sure if you can add ringtones to the iPhone or not, I
was just curious if the one used in commercials was on the phone. Thanks for
the response.

Yopu can add ringtones (at a cost) through itunes, or through 3rd
party software that has to be updated after every firmware upgrade.

You can add your own ring tone's to an iPhone. My friend does it all the
time. He just copy's them to the device and selects them in the menu.

That's incorrect (at least if you are on a Mac). You can make ring
tones in GarageBand, and export them to iTunes, where they are made
available to your iPhone, with no attempt to charge you.

Your GarageBand composition can include songs from iTunes, as long as
they are not songs purchased from the iTunes Store. So, any CDs you've
ripped, or songs you've purchased from, say, Amazon, will work just fine
in ring tones made from GarageBand. (I'm not sure if iTunes Store songs
that don't have DRM will work or not).

(And songs you've purchased from the iTunes Store can be used in
GarageBand if you jump through a simple hoop: export the song to an
audio CD-R or CD-RW, and rip it back, to strip the DRM).

You can indeed make ringtones on both Mac and PC's and import them to
iTunes. It is a fairly simple process! I WILL NOT pay for ringtones!

You don't know anything about iphones if you say you can't make or add
your own ringtones. I'm sure your other reasons are just as uneducated.

sure you can, what in the world are you thinking? there are plenty of
ways to add ringtones for free to an iPhone.

--- by the way, you mean the "Record Companies" not Apple charging you.
Apple has no choice in the matter. they are only the "distributor", they
don't OWN the songs! so please get your facts straight.

geeesh!

So you're saying the record companies charge Apple the entire $0.99, and
Apple, for the benefit of their loyal customers, makes absolutely NO profit
on the "ringtone conversions"- just on the original song purchase?

no. i'm saying that Apple has "no choice" but to sell a song "twice" if
someone wants a portion of a song for an iphone ringtone.

again, apple is just a distributor, they don't "own" the songs TODD.
